Thinking Day & JOTI Chat Rules

Rules for JOTI and World Thinking Day

  1. Please do not use all CAPITAL LETTERS -- it is considered shouting.
  2. You will be in a room full of people who are talking with one another.  It is not necessary to ask if anyone will to talk to you - just join right in!
  3. We will not tolerate rude behavior or questionable language
  4. Remember your Girl Guide or Girl Scout Promise & Law.  Keep it in mind while chatting.
  5. Look at the list of nicks. See how some nicks are offset? These are the Channel Operators. Think of these people as the Leaders in Charge of the event, and treat them as you would any adult working any GG/GS event you attend.
  6. If someone refuses to go into a private chat with you, it is quite possible that person is too busy (possibly chatting with several others) and simply does not have the time or energy to go into a private corner with you.  Please do not take it personally.  No offense is intended.
  7. Please limit your pop-ups to no more than 4 lines.  Otherwise they tend to take up too much room on each chatter's screen.
  8. Please help us keep the chat "sounds lite".  There are too many new chatters who do not understand about sounds; and now is not a good time to explain sounds to them.
  9. Please limit your use of colors!   Different chat clients show colors differently; and what looks terrific on your screen may be unreadable on someone else's screen.
