Here are the patch requirements:

1. You initially met via WAGGGS-L.
2. You made contact beyond WAGGGS-L or #trefoil (for example, e-mail or telephone).
3. You met face to face, and had something to eat at that meeting.

As long as you meet the above criteria, it does not matter if the person you meet is from across the world, across the nation, or even across town. But no cheating.

Notes:

• these 3 criteria must be met in sequential order.
• We are "grandmothering" this patch program. This means that if you have already met & eaten with someone (like those of us at the WAGGGS-L Picnic the evening before the Sing Along in DC), then you qualify for the patch.
• You can only earn the patch one time. If/when you qualify again, you earn an ant.

The first time you meet with another list member and have something to eat, you earn the patch. For each additional meeting and eating, you earn an ant. The original idea was for each "picnicker" to sew her/his own ants on, using 3 French knots for the body and a few back stitches for legs and antennae. Now we know that some of you are "craft-challenged", and need something easier than 3 French knots and a few back stitches. For you, go ahead and use fabric paint, or even a fabric marker. And for you creative people, go ahead and come up with your own ideas for how to make ants. How about 3 seed beads for the body (instead of French knots)? I'm sure you all will come up with some very creative ideas.

Since many of us have daughters who read the list over our shoulders, and since these same daughters participate in whatever list functions they can, it is only fair that these same daughters earn the patch when they picnic with us. This is not a troop activity, but by all means let's include our daughters.

Likewise, mascots can also earn the Picnic Club patch. If you have a mascot visiting when you "picnic", I know you'll be bringing your visitor to the picnic. Of course this mascot earns the patch, too.

Patches must be paid for using US funds. For our friends outside the USA, we have several people willing to swap a Picnic Club patch for something you may have.
