General FAQ's

I tried to identify and it says my nickname is not registered

Once your nickname is registered if you do not identify yourself for 30 days you lose your registration, and you'll have to reregister if the nickname is still available.  Therefore it is recommended that you always identify when you connect to ScoutLink.

I got knocked offline, reconnected and my nickname is in use

Your "ghost" is still in the channel, it will automatically disappear after a period of time. To clear it immediately send the command /nickserv ghost nickname password, inserting the name of the nickname you want to recover, and your password. After the ghost is killed, ScoutLink will automatically change your nickname to the one you just retrieved.  Please note this only works with registered nicks.

What do the @ signs before people's names mean?

This signifies the channel operators. Channel operators are necessary in order to ensure that unwanted visitors can be removed from the channel and prevented from returning. The @ by their name is optional, and they can put it on or take it off as needed. They tend not to wear them except during very busy times. They can also be considered to be the "leaders in charge" of the event. The girls should show them the same respect they would any adults working any GG/GS event.

NOTE: If you are not using mIRC, the channel operators may be indicated by a different character (such as ~) or a different color.

A lot of people left the channel. Where did they go?

Chances are your server or their server split, and have been separated from the rest of us. If you believe you have been split, disconnect and connect to a different server.

NOTE:  ScoutLink has techies whose jobs include reconnecting split servers, so hopefully netsplits will be rare and when they do happen will be fixed promptly.

I can see the conversation going on but no one seems to see me or answer me?

You must be split from the rest - see above.
